Iran threatens new attack on Israel after IDF responds to Hezbollah fire with Beirut strikes
Despite US pressure, IDF strikes Hezbollah HQ in Dahiyeh district following rocket attack
Tehran threatened to renew its attacks on Israel on Sunday afternoon, following IDF strikes against Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital of Beirut in response to the terror group breaking the ceasefire and firing two rockets at Israeli towns.
Earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed in a terse statement that the IDF had “struck terrorist headquarters in the Dahiyeh district” of the capital, despite reports in recent days that the U.S. had been pressuring Israel not to strike there to avoid further endangering the fragile ceasefire in Lebanon.
The Israeli and Lebanese governments had recommitted to the ceasefire last Thursday, after the IDF had expanded its ground operation in response to Hezbollah’s ongoing attacks. The terror group rejected the agreement outright, vowing to continue firing on Israel.
Israel updated the Trump administration ahead of the airstrikes, the Saudi al-Hadath channel reported. An Israeli source told i24 News that the ceasefire afforded Israel the right to strike Hezbollah headquarters if it fired into Israeli territory.
The Israeli airstrike in Beirut’s southern suburbs was carried out with three missiles targeting two apartments in the Nizlet al-Mawqif area in the Dahiyeh.

The Iranian regime has consistently sought to connect its ceasefire to the Lebanese front, and several representatives threatened to renew attacks on Israel in response to the strikes on Sunday.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, who has been leading the talks with the United States, argued that Israel and the U.S. are “neither committed to a ceasefire nor believe in dialogue, and by demonstrating through the naval blockade and violation of agreements regarding Lebanon that they only understand the language of power.”
“The naval blockade against the Iranian nation and America's green light today to the Zionist regime turn American and regime bases and assets in the region into legitimate targets. The hand of our armed forces is open, as always,” he warned.

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, warned Israelis to “watch the sky tonight.”
“We will deliver a decisive and painful response to the Zionist regime's attack on Dahiyeh. These rabid dogs must be disciplined and put back in their place,” he wrote on 𝕏.
In response to the threats, Israeli media reported that the security establishment convened several meetings on Sunday evening; however, the IDF’s Home Front Command said that security guidelines will remain unchanged for now.
Israel Hayom reported on Sunday evening that the military had not identified any signs pointing to an imminent Iranian attack. However, in a possible first indication that Iranian strikes could be forthcoming, Qatar issued a NOTAM redirecting flights from its airspace from June 7 to June 14.

Earlier on Sunday, Hezbollah had broken the ceasefire by firing two rockets toward Israel for the first time in four days, triggering siren alerts in the northern towns of Yiftah and Ramot Naftali. The military said it intercepted the rockets and later destroyed the launchers.
Lebanese media reported that the Israeli strikes on two apartments in Dahiyeh killed two people and wounded at least 11 others. According to the Israeli military, it conducted “a precise strike targeting a Hezbollah terrorist organization command center where Hezbollah terrorists were operating.”
Army Radio reported that the Dahiyeh headquarters was hit as a symbolic strike but did not target a specific commander.
The IDF issued another evacuation warning for the southern Lebanese city of Tyre on Sunday, ahead of incoming airstrikes there. On Saturday, four reserve soldiers were moderately wounded by a first-person-view (FPV) drone strike by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, the IDF added.
Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed last week to launch strikes in Beirut if Hezbollah continued attacking northern Israel, as pressure mounted from residents of the area and reports indicated that support for his party was collapsing there.
At the start of a government meeting on Sunday, before the strikes in Beirut, Netanyahu said, “In Lebanon, our forces have eliminated 350 terrorists in the past week alone. They captured the Beaufort Ridge, where they discovered a massive underground infrastructure. We are completing the elimination of the terrorist villages adjacent to our border.”
“We are striking them very hard, and we know that Hezbollah is on the run. We will not allow firing at our territory or our communities, and we will act accordingly.”
