IDF eliminates Hezbollah terrorists dressed as paramedics, using ambulances to transport weapons

The IDF said Monday it struck a cell of Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon over the weekend, alleging they were disguised as paramedics and used ambulances to transport weapons.

According to the military, the Hezbollah operatives “systematically used ambulances to transfer weapons between northern to southern Lebanon, as part of ongoing terrorist activities, using the ambulances to conduct terror attacks against IDF soldiers and the State of Israel.”

Over the past month, dozens of rockets were launched toward the State of Israel and at IDF soldiers from areas in which these terrorists operated, while they used ambulances and medical paraphernalia to hide their activities, the IDF said.

"In several recent incidents, Hezbollah has transported and hidden weapons using ambulances in several locations, operated command and control infrastructures from medical facilities, and transported terrorists in the combat zone while violating the special protection afforded to them and deliberately endangering civilian populations."

The military said the use of ambulances and medical teams to conceal terrorist activities constitutes “a severe violation of international law.”

“Under IDF directives and in accordance with international law, medical teams are afforded special protection, provided they do not engage in hostile acts outside their humanitarian duties and subject to the conditions established under the law,” adding, “This incident serves as another example of Hezbollah’s cynical and systematic use of medical infrastructure and civilians for military purposes.”

On Tuesday evening, Channel 14 reported that the IDF has eliminated around 900 Hezbollah fighters since the Shia terror group joined the war in support of Iran.

With the government now suggesting that Israel may hold the territory south of the Litani River for a long time, as it tries to secure the communities in northern Israel, IDF officials are concerned Hezbollah has developed new strategies for waging asymmetric war against Israeli forces, similar to how Ukraine has held off larger Russian forces, using drones and other low-cost tools, Israel Hayom reported.

At the same time, Hezbollah has moved most of its rocket launchers north of the Litani, meaning the IDF’s presence south of the Litani may not be sufficient to remove the threat. However, the IDF has continued to find and destroy rocket launchers in southern Lebanon as well.

Since the start of Operation "Roaring Lion," the IDF has destroyed more than 180 launchers across Lebanon.

Additionally, the military surrounded and cut off many members of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force who had come south to engage the IDF, Israeli news outlet Maariv reported. With most civilians evacuated from southern Lebanon, the IDF said it can move more rapidly, operating under the assumption that any remaining activity in the area is likely linked to Hezbollah.

The IDF's destruction of several bridges over the Litani River has also made it harder for Hezbollah to resupply its fighters in the south or quickly evacuate them from the area.

The report said that the IDF is now focusing its fire on the area housing Radwan forces to eliminate the operatives.
