Cluster munitions lead to several hospitalizations in central Haredi community of Bnei Brak
Fourteen Israelis were injured by the impact of fragments from an Iranian ballistic missile carrying cluster munitions on Wednesday morning.
An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured by shrapnel in Bnei Brak, central Israel. After receiving initial medical treatment on the scene, she was evacuated to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer. According to Channel 12 News, her condition worsened after arriving at the hospital.
Two others were moderately injured, a teenage boy and a woman in her thirties, both from the ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak, and were transported to the hospital in moderate condition.
According to a Walla News report, the two were injured when the boy was unable to wake his deaf mother in time to reach the safe room. The boy’s condition was also reported to have worsened following hospitalization. Eleven others were also taken to hospitals and listed in light condition.
The attacks on Wednesday morning marked the first missile attack from Iran on Israel in around 20 hours, and were followed over the next few hours by a three-missile barrage targeting northern and central Israel, and another missile fired at central Israel.

Emergency medical teams were reportedly dispatched to 11 different scenes where reports of falls or interception shrapnel were received, providing treatment to two additional injured people in light condition.
Magen David Adom reported that "MDA paramedics and medics are providing medical treatment and are taking 14 injured people to hospitals, including: an 11-year-old girl in serious condition, with injuries to her limbs from shrapnel, a 36-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy in moderate condition, with injuries from shrapnel, and 11 injured people in light condition.”
MDA paramedic Issachar Weiss said, “We received a report of a fall. We arrived at the scene with intensive care vehicles, ambulances, and immediate response motorcycles. We saw destruction and people walking around while they were conscious, and an 11-year-old girl who was in a confused state and suffering from injuries to her limbs from shrapnel. We provided her with medical treatment and evacuated her in an MDA intensive care vehicle to the hospital in serious condition.”
Senior MDA medic Lipa Hirsch described the scene where the boy and his mother were injured: “During scans, we saw a 13-year-old boy who was conscious after being hit by the blast. We loaded him into an MDA ambulance and evacuated him to the hospital in moderate condition.”
Fire and Rescue teams reported at four locations in central Israel following the latest Iranian missile barrage, including two in Bnei Brak. In one scene, direct shrapnel hit a building, causing significant destruction, while in another scene in the city, the impact from shrapnel led to a local gas leak and minor damage. Firefighters were working at the scene to neutralize the gas leak and prevent danger to residents.
Another fall site was near the U.S. Embassy branch in Tel Aviv, Channel 12 News reported. A fire was reported in Holon as a result of shrapnel, and firefighting teams worked to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings. An additional impact site was reported in an open area of the city, with no reports of damage to buildings or property.
In recent missile barrages, Iran has launched several cluster munition warheads. Authorities warned that some of the bomblets may not explode on impact, posing a hazard until bomb disposal squads can deal with the munitions.
Additionally, a launch earlier this morning was reported from Yemen, which was intercepted without incident.
On Wednesday morning, the Ministry of Health published updated data, noting that 6,286 people have been evacuated to hospitals across the country since the start of the war, of whom almost 100 are currently hospitalized. Of those, one person was listed in critical condition, 13 in serious condition, 20 in moderate condition, and 63 in mild condition.
