Israel prepares for Iran war to resume as early as next week, President Trump briefed on military options
Israel may 'soon be required to act again,' warns defense minister Katz
With U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly being briefed on possible military options to resume the fighting against the Iranian regime, the Israeli military has been on heightened alert and preparing to return to war as early as the start of next week, Channel 12 News reported on Thursday.
Trump was reportedly briefed by U.S. Central Command Chief Adm. Brad Cooper and Chief of the General Staff Gen. Dan Caine at the White House on Thursday. Meanwhile, Israeli leaders were reportedly detecting growing momentum in Washington toward resuming the war, as negotiations with the Iranian regime appear to have been stalled for weeks.
Israeli officials are now preparing for the talks to break down and fighting to resume as early as the start of next week, according to Channel 12, with cabinet ministers believing that Washington might seek to give the regime “a push” through renewed strikes as part of a broader pressure campaign that includes the ongoing naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
In recent days, growing pessimism for a breakthrough was reflected in oil prices reaching their highest level since the start of the war, topping out at $126 per barrel of Brent crude before receding slightly.
Trump this week rejected another offer from Tehran, vowing to keep the blockade in place for now. “The blockade is somewhat more effective than the bombing. They are choking like a stuffed pig. And it is going to be worse for them. They can't have a nuclear weapon,” Trump told the Axios news outlet.
On Thursday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz also warned that Israel may “soon be required to act again” to remove the “existential threats” posed by the Iranian regime.

“Iran has suffered extremely severe blows over the past year, blows that have set it back years in all areas,” Katz emphasized while speaking at the ceremony of promotion for the incoming Air Force chief, Maj.-Gen. Omer Tischler.
Katz said that President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are “leading the effort to complete the campaign’s objectives in a way that ensures Iran will not return to being a threat to the existence of Israel, to the United States, and to the free world for generations to come,” adding Israel supports this effort but “may soon be required to act again to ensure the objectives are achieved.”
On Friday, Fox News reported that the U.S. could “soon” launch a strike against the remaining leadership in Iran, while U.S. Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal told CNN that “an imminent military strike is very much on the table,” based on his impressions from recent briefings and “other sources.”
Axios cited three sources who said that U.S. CENTCOM has prepared a plan for a “short and powerful” wave of strikes on Iran to break the negotiating deadlock.
Other options under discussion reportedly include seizing control of the Strait of Hormuz to restore shipping, potentially involving ground forces, or conducting a special operations mission to secure Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
The Prime Minister's Office announced on Thursday that Israel received some 6,500 tons of munitions and military equipment within 24 hours.
"In a large-scale global logistics operation, two cargo ships have docked at the Ports of Ashdod and Haifa, carrying thousands of air and ground munitions, military trucks, Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs), and additional military equipment."
“The State of Israel stands ready at every moment to act against its enemies, on every front and wherever necessary," Katz announced.
"This expanding air and sea bridge directly strengthens the IDF’s capabilities and operational superiority. Our job is to ensure the IDF has everything it needs to return to fighting at full force against our enemies, at any time and in any place."
