What hating Israel will do to you
We all know that hate is a destructive force - not only towards the object at whom its directed but also the damage it does to the one from whom it emanates.
Nothing could have demonstrated this message more powerfully than a social media post which I recently encountered.
The clip, posted by Ben Goldstein, on social media literally showed what happens to nations that expend all of their energies hating Israel and the Jews. He says, “the results are always the same - chaos, destruction, violence and corruption.”
Examining each country separately, Goldstein begins with Syria, claiming they turned terror into national policy, resulting in its being a graveyard.
As far back as 1948, marking the establishment of the Jewish state, Syria has been hostile to Israel. Never recognizing Israel as a legitimate state, no formal diplomatic relations were ever forged between the two countries.
Since their ousted leader Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia, when opposition forces seized power, the country has been rife with the ethnic cleansing of Druze and Christians as well as violence and power struggles between tribal groups. No one is sure if anything resembling a peaceful country will emerge from those who are presently ruling.
Then there is Lebanon, described by Goldstein as “having sold its soul to Hezbollah, causing the entire system to go bankrupt. Gradually becoming the dominant force, the terror group, founded in 1982, gained full power a decade later.
Taking over all social services, Lebanese citizens became totally dependent upon them for everything. Their former cleric leader, Hassan Nasrallah oozed hatred for Israel, daily threatening to wipe her out. Now he’s dead, finished off by the ones he longed to annihilate.
Despite Lebanon’s efforts to restore their rightful government, they are still reeling from the devastating effects of the terrorists, whose unceasing determination is to remain in power and finish the job their failed leader was unable to do.
Today, their economy is in deep collapse, as the currency devaluation has exceeded 97%, leading to hyperinflation and catapulting its population into dire poverty, where it’s said that most cannot even afford to buy bread.
The Hamas-Israel war caused massive damage to their infrastructure and was responsible for the fall of their banking system, leaving them with mounds of debt that is unsustainable. Any recovery will take years, if they are even able to rebound at all.
Egypt, although often working in cooperation with Israel, has played a double game. It was the Muslim Brotherhood, birthed in Egypt, who waged war against their own government, that eventually morphed into Hamas. So, one would think that their defeat, by Israel, would be celebrated by Egypt.
But it isn’t. Part of the reason is that Egypt realized great monetary profits from the weapons’ smuggling which took place over the course of many years on the Gaza-Egypt border. According to one report, “the reason Egypt may be so permissive could be due to the fact that Egypt may have crafted a quiet quid pro quo with Iran: The Egyptian military would turn a blind eye to Iranian weapons transfers and make a handsome transit profit in exchange for Tehran ceasing its efforts to make mischief in Egypt itself.”
Similar to Lebanon, Egypt is faced with high debt and poverty as their currency was devalued. Anyone challenging the government is met with the strong arm of the authoritarian state, not free to express any opposition. Of course, there is a great deal of corruption and lack of transparency, much of which involves their military leaders.
Amongst all those who hate Israel, none is greater than the Islamic Republic of Iran. Headed by mullahs since 1979, their Supreme Leaders have lived for the day that they could finally take credit for having destroyed their archenemy, Israel.
Although they believed that they had the capability to do so, their several attempts, over the last two years, were more bluster than the realization of their greatest fantasy. How have they fared since then?
Following six consecutive years of drought, their reserves are at an all-time low, limiting the amount of water their citizens can drink and utilize for other purposes.
Most everyone knows that their people are waiting for the day that they can be free of this cruel and oppressive regime which has brought them nothing but great suffering.
In fact, many Iranians have courageously spoken of their support and admiration for Israel, understanding that the Jewish state wishes them no harm. As them, we merely want to see a fair and just government replace the repressive one which exists.
Just like the other nations which hate Israel, Iran’s economy is in great crisis with hyperinflation of 40-50%. It is reported that most citizens cannot afford basic necessities. Experts also warn of impending collapse in their oil and gas industries.
This leads us to Europe, characterized, by Goldstein, as the place which oppressed and crushed the Jewish people for centuries. Today, they find themselves “drowning in the extremism that they imported with open arms.” Overrun by radical Muslims, who have taken over whole neighborhoods, little by little, they are seizing political power as they win local elections.
Compare all this to Israel which, despite having fought for its survival over the course of the last 77 years, is still leading the world in medical and technological breakthroughs.
Although prognosticators were predicting a very negative economic picture, due to a two-year war which drained so many sectors of the country’s resources, Israel continues to flourish. The resilience of its economy has been nothing short of astounding as a strong GDP growth has been projected for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
All of this serves to prove that hatred is a devastating force which only wreaks destruction upon those who spread it. For any doubters, the facts speak for themselves.
Every nation which has come against Israel has fallen economically, politically, societally and in every other way. Contrast the same time frame to Israel, and her achievements have continued to skyrocket.
There is a powerful message in that reality. Cursing Israel is a boomerang that always comes back to them! (Gen. 12:3)
