After publicly asking Iran not to target Gulf states, Hamas sends private letter to Mojtaba Khamenei, pledging allegiance and calling for jihad
Secret letter reveals Hamas leadership not committed to Trump peace agreement, planning for renewed fighting
Over the past weekend, Hamas reportedly sent a secret letter to Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, according to Israeli media.
While international outlets covered Hamas’ public message, in which the group asked Tehran not to target Gulf states, Kan News reported that a separate, confidential letter was also sent directly to Khamenei.
In its public statements, Hamas congratulated Mojtaba Khamenei on his inauguration and condemned recent attacks on Iran as “brutal Zionist-American aggression.”
Hamas emphasized its trust in Khamenei, writing, “We affirm our confidence in your wisdom and ability to steer the ship of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic through this critical juncture, preserving the course of the Islamic Revolution and achieving victory over the enemies of Islam and Muslims.”
Hamas also said it was confident that he would “continue to support our Palestinian people, their just cause, and their valiant resistance with all forms of support, as the Islamic Republic has always done throughout the past decades.”
However, according to Kan News, the terror group also sent a secret letter to Mojtaba, which Kan revealed on its website. This letter takes a much more militant tone, expressing support for the Islamic Republic and calling for Iran to “activate all fronts [proxies] so the occupation pays for its crimes.”

“Hamas stands behind your wise leadership against the Zionist-American front,” the letter read. “With our brothers in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, we will create victories under your leadership.”
The terror group harshly criticized the Gulf states, which worked to normalize relations with Israel, saying, "The normalization camp is a losing camp. They didn't even dare to defend those who found shelter in their bases.”
Hamas announced its intention to continue the “resistance,” saying, “We remain on the path of jihad with the martyrs until the liberation of al-Quds [Jerusalem].”
The terror group emphasized that it would not accept any attempts to disarm its forces, writing, “We know the plans to shackle us via agreements aimed to end our armed existence – we reject them until liberation.”
This private message contrasts with the more restrained tone in its public letters.
Even in the public letter to Mojtaba Khamenei, Hamas expressed “deepest condolences and sincerest sympathies” over the death of his father, writing, “we share in your grief over the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, and a blessed number of your noble family members.”
However, the private letter did not urge continued attacks or the activation of Iran’s proxy forces, signaling that despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to advance his Gaza Peace Plan, Hamas remains committed to ongoing conflict with Israel.
