Two Jewish men from Tehran and Shiraz who were arrested on suspicion of involvement in anti-regime protests in Iran have been released following efforts by senior figures in Iran’s Jewish community to secure their freedom from the authorities.

The development was reported Thursday morning by Kan News on Reshet Bet radio.

A total of three Jewish individuals were detained as part of the broad wave of arrests carried out by the Iranian regime in recent weeks. While two have since been released, one Jewish detainee remains in custody, and senior members of the country’s Jewish community remain engaged in strong efforts to secure his release.

Meanwhile, over the past 24 hours, members of Iran’s Jewish community took part in events marking the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. Among those in attendance were the Jewish representatives in the Iranian parliament, Homayoun Sameh, and one of the community’s rabbis, Younes Hamami.

The two gave interviews to Iranian media in which they expressed support for the Islamic Revolution and the rule of the ayatollahs. They also praised the authorities’ treatment of religious minorities, saying the support they receive strengthens morale within the community.

Homayoun was also photographed holding a sign alongside Rabbi Hamami that read: “22 Bahman [11th month in the Iranian calendar]: The day of the Islamic Revolution is when light triumphed over darkness.”
