The United Nations spends an estimated $100 million annually on activities related to Israel, according to a new report published by the Permanent Mission of Israel to the UN. The report states that a significant portion of the funding is allocated to debates, reports, and the work of various UN committees focused on Israel, which it says results in a disproportionate level of attention compared with other member states. The analysis was conducted in cooperation with international organizations.

“Today we actually showed that these are orchestrated campaigns, well-funded and well-established within the UN budget,” Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon announced.

“These $100 million, which will be approved in the coming days in the new UN budget, are spent on activities against the government of Israel and against the IDF," he continued.

The Israeli ambassador explained that many of the UN’s anti-Israel propaganda activities are covert.

"Sometimes they do it directly, such as through committees that address Palestinian issues. Many times it is disguised under different names and organizations, but the actual activities are pure propaganda against the State of Israel,” Danon said.

Each year, the UN holds dozens of debates and produces at least 100 reports focused on Israel and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. Critics argue that many of these reports are political in nature and reflect a consistently one-sided stance against Israel.

Each report reportedly costs tens of thousands of dollars, and each debate also costs thousands of dollars. In any given year, the UN passes more resolutions against Israel than all other countries combined, including notorious human rights violators such as Iran, China, Russia, Syria, Libya and Yemen.

The United Nations General Assembly recently passed a resolution calling on Israel to cooperate with UNRWA despite the agency’s well-documented ties with the terrorist organization Hamas and involvement in the Oct. 7 attack in southern Israel. A few countries, including Israel and the United States, have voted against the resolution, which is non-binding and therefore largely symbolic.

Danon told The Jerusalem Post that Israel is trying to prevent is working to prevent UN funds from reaching Hamas through UNRWA and other organizations.

“But unfortunately, most countries tend to ignore it. And even though we exposed this, the UN will continue to fund these activities,” he added.

The Israeli ambassador stressed that the Jewish state is cooperating with its main ally – the United States.

“We are sharing the information, and we are grateful to the US mission, which is taking a moral stand against the funding of these bodies,” Danon explained. “Despite the huge amount of money directed against Israel, we will continue to stand strong and proud against the bias of UN organizations."

The UN-affiliated Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) recently published a report stating that food levels in Gaza “remain critical.

Israel’s COGAT unit, tasked with the coordination and facilitation of humanitarian initiatives, strongly rejected the conclusions of the report, saying it is biased against Israel and detached from the reality in Gaza.

“COGAT strongly rejects the claims and conclusions presented in the IPC report published today (Friday), which once again portrays a distorted, biased and unfounded picture of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.”

“The report relies on severe gaps in data collection and on sources that do not reflect the full scope of humanitarian assistance. As such, it misleads the international community, fuels disinformation, and presents a false depiction of the reality on the ground,” COGAT concluded.
