'Mossad’s eyes' in Iran: Israeli agent ‘Arash’ describes secret role in foiling missile threat during Operation Rising Lion

An Iranian national who identified himself as a Mossad agent and is known by the alias “Arash” described his role in assisting Israel during Operation Rising Lion against Iran in June while speaking with Israel’s Channel 12 News on Thursday.

During the interview, Arash revealed his mission to assist the Jewish state in neutralizing a missile launcher aimed at Israel: "Our mission was to take a special and specific weapon, and assemble everything together, being ready to launch," he said, adding that his team in Iran prepared the weapons system.

"When I was training in Israel, I could assemble everything in less than an hour, and there [in Iran,] it took around one hour and forty minutes," he continued, explaining that the longer assembling time was due to interruptions with passing vehicles.

Arash and other Iranian Mossad agents played a critical role in Israel’s military success against the Iranian regime and in undermining Tehran’s counteroffensive against Israel.

Last June, Israeli media reported that Mossad took part in the opening salvo of attacks by activating covert units operating within the country, including a secret drone base, to conduct three major operations assisting the broader strikes against the Iranian regime.

Arash admitted that he and his team did not know the target in advance.

"I didn't know about our target, just...we got coordinates," Arash explained. "I was Mossad's eyes inside this mission."

"Everything was ready. [In order] to finish the job, I just had to push a button and get out of there. I was waiting over two hours until I received the order to launch. It was terrible. I was scared about everything," Arash told the interviewer.

The margin of success was narrowed down to one attempt, he said.

"We had just one chance to launch. I said, 'Okay, let's do it.' When we launched the missiles, because the missiles had a camera, I could see our target – a rocket launcher ready to shoot ballistic missiles to Israel. We destroyed it," he said.

Arash recalled the mixed emotions of celebration and danger in the middle of the action.

"We wanted to celebrate inside [that] area, but [had to keep] 'everything under control.' We had to arrange everything and [return safely] to the safe house."

Having previously served in the Iranian military, Arash described his own childhood trauma when his sister was arrested and beaten by the Iranian regime’s so-called 'morality police' for not wearing a hijab.

"When I was 11, one night my sister didn't come home. It was a terrible night for us," he said. His family succeeded in freeing the sister and eventually fled to the West.

"As I grew older, I realized that without help, I would achieve nothing." At the age of 30, he eventually decided to contact Mossad using an internet search.

“I opened the page to send a message, and in that very second when I wanted to send it, it was a very difficult decision for me,” he said, stressing that he considers himself a proud Iranian and views the ayatollah regime – not Israel – as the enemy of the Iranian people.

“No, wait, stop. When you say Iran, you’re talking about my country, my people, not the regime. [Mossad] is not the enemy of my country, it’s the enemy of my enemy.”
