The Lebanese Army has been ordered to use all available means to enforce the Hezbollah disarmament plan, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam instructed on Monday. The directive followed an Israeli strike on Dahiyeh, Hezbollah’s Beirut stronghold, targeting a senior operative after the group joined the conflict.

Earlier today, Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz addressed Hezbollah’s participation in the campaign against Israel, vowing that the terrorist organization would "pay a heavy price for the fire toward Israel,” and that “Naim Qassem, Hezbollah’s secretary-general, who decided on the launch under Iranian pressure, is from now on a marked target for elimination.”

His remarks came in response to rockets and drones launched by the terrorist organization overnight toward Israel, targeting the Haifa area and central Israel, marking the first of such attacks since the ceasefire in November 2024. “Whoever follows in the path of Khamenei will soon find himself alongside him in the depths of hell, together with all those eliminated from the axis of evil,” Katz added.

At least six rockets were fired from south of the Litani River — an area that is supposed to be demilitarized.

The group claimed responsibility for the attacks, describing them as a “legitimate defensive response” to Khamenei’s assassination.

Senior Israeli security officials characterized the incident as serious and warned that it would “be met with a strong response.” Today, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said the Israel Defense Forces launched “an offensive campaign against Hezbollah.”

As part of the new campaign, the head of Hezbollah’s bloc in the Lebanese parliament, Mohammad Raad, was eliminated overnight in a targeted airstrike of the Israel Air Force in the Dahiyeh neighborhood of Beirut, the Saudi channel Al-Hadath reported. His son, Abbas, a Hezbollah militant, was killed during the Swords of Iron War.

The strike in Dahiyeh sparked panic in the Lebanese capital, with heavy traffic reported since midnight as civilians fled the city.

The escalation prompted an immediate attack from Lebanon. President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam issued statements condemning Hezbollah, calling the launches an “irresponsible act.”

Salam emphasized that Lebanon will not allow itself to be dragged into “new adventures” that “give Israel a pretext” to continue striking.

Aoun called for “a responsible national approach that prioritizes the country’s higher national interest.” He also stated that the use of Lebanon as “a platform for proxy wars” is something the state would not allow.
