The castration of Europe
Does it come as any surprise to discover that just when support from NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) might come in handy, in fighting the greatest global threat of our time, they are not available?
After having poured trillions upon trillions of dollars into the military alliance, established in 1949, for the purpose of safeguarding its 32-member countries from enemy attack, they simply are incapable of doing the job for which they were created.
Now confirmed, as suspected by U.S. President Donald Trump, help will not be forthcoming by them, despite his having denied that it’s even needed. But wasn’t all of this predictable as Muslim migrants started to pour into European countries, decades ago, by the millions?
In fact, one could arguably say that those NATO member nations have a clear conflict of interest, given the virulent anti-Western sentiments of those newcomers who, rather than integrate into their respective local cultures, have, instead, chosen to retain their status as full-fledged Muslims.
The result is the castration of Europe – a continent which has been left defenseless and impotent, for fear of stirring up the bubbling cauldron of seething hate represented by a significant portion of their populations.
Let’s start with France, who has said that it is “unreasonable for Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah amid bombing.” Within it’s nearly 70 million inhabitants, the official number of Muslims, living there is around 5.7 million, while others believe that it is much higher.
Taking the position that “France is not a party to the conflict,” President Emmanuel Macron does not view the war against Iran as a battle he is willing to join. To the contrary, their solution to ending the war is solely to employ negotiating. Towards that end, they have offered to mediate such an effort.
But their terms set the condition of a non-aggression pact. In what constellation do they believe that this demand will be acceptable to Hezbollah, a barbaric terror group, which has said they have no intention of disarming. In fact, Hezbollah has already opposed any talks with Israel, so what benefit would there be in a one-sided discussion?
When you couple that with France’s contention that It is unreasonable to expect the Lebanese government to disarm, while the war is in progress, you immediately understand that Macron sees no problem with lethal weapons in the hands of a terror group.
But then part of that has to do with the fact that he is not being woken up multiple times in the middle of the night, seeking shelter in a safe room while getting an average of 3-4 hours of sleep, not to mention non-stop rocket launches throughout the day.
Instead of demanding that the Lebanese government take serious measures to excise the cancer that is destroying their country from within, France foolishly believes that placating the terrorists is the best course of action.
Then there are the other European nations of Spain, Germany, Netherlands and Italy, all of whom have no desire to have direct military involvement, hoping to sit this one out. Theirs is the speech which offers the impossibility of diplomatic solutions, de-escalation and the desire to avoid a wider conflict.
All of that is code for – we don’t want to get our hands dirty or do the heavy lift. We’ll leave that up to the Americans and the Israelis. As everyone remembers, Spain initially refused to allow its bases to be utilized for any Iranian attacks. Likewise, Germany made it clear that they had no intention to join any military operations. Similar to France, The Netherlands stated that this was not their war.
Italy “announced it will not participate in the ongoing war involving the U.S., Israel and Iran. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni described the conflict as one of the most serious international crises in recent decades and warned that the escalation reflected a broader breakdown in the international legal order.” Can anyone interpret that nonsensical mouthful? By Meloni’s reckoning, it’s broken, but she doesn’t want to help fix it.
Although not officially part of Europe, U.K., under the feckless leadership of Keir Starmer, has been unequivocal about not helping in any way, to the point of forbidding use of the joint military base Diego Garcia for potential strikes. Responding to this lack of support, Trump has referred to Starmer as “being no Churchill.”
So where does all this lead? To just one place, a castrated Europe that is unwilling and unable to show any force of strength in order to protect their citizens from being overtaken by evil regimes.
Ironically, their failure to take on Iran and its proxy fighters will only hurt them in the long run, since they rely on a significant amount of oil imports which must go through the Straits of Hormuz. If that waterway is closed, by a vindictive terrorist regime, how will they make up that loss which will clearly impact negatively on their economy?
Of course, they are counting on the U.S. to finish what they have started, knowing that between them and the formidable military of Israel, that coveted territory, the principal route for global commerce, will not be held captive but taken by force, if need be, to make sure that no one uses it as a means to blackmail all of humanity.
Sadly, not much has changed from the days of the Holocaust when Europe desperately needed the American allies to help them reclaim their countries from a madman who tried to dominate the entire continent. Except, back then, the great Winston Churchill fought together with the Americans to liberate the tyranny which he had no trouble defining as evil.
An amusing meme has gone viral, depicting the Bibi Trump International Airport of Tehran with three lines. One is an empty line for Iranians, suggesting that none survived, one is the VIP fast track for Israelis and Americans, and the other is the European “long wait” line with masses crushed together, unable to move forward.
That was what they chose when they refused to be part of a united coalition to take on the forces of evil. Consequently, they will, likely, live to regret the castration of their countries who neither recognized the impending dangers nor prepared for them before it was too late.
(Since the writing of this article, U.K., Germany, France, Italy and Japan have indicated that they may be willing to help open the Straits of Hormuz but have offered no details as to what they’d be willing to do.)
