Political loyalty trumps Judaism
If you’re wondering how a Jewish man is able to give a full-throated endorsement to someone with the same Nazi tattoo worn by the guards of concentration camps, fear not. There is an explanation. It’s called placing political loyalty over one’s ethnic identity.
It accounts for the reason that U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, J Street leader Steven Koltai and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, all Jews, have no qualms endorsing Maine’s Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner.
So desperate to take back the Senate from Republicans, it’s almost inconceivable that these Jewish men would ignore the obvious anti-Jewish ideology held by Platner against their own people, all for the sake of gaining party control.
But, how strong does your loyalty have to be to disregard claims that Platner was caught in a sexting scandal, where explicit sexual messages, were exchanged with multiple females, during the course of his two-year marriage? At this point, no one is even sure of the ages of these women, meaning that some could have been underage girls.
Add to that, his attributing blame to rape victims as well as derogatory comments about rural Americans and minorities made by him. Would mocking a wounded veteran be enough for some of these supporters to realize that Platner is completely lacking the moral character needed to run for public office?
Yet, none of those things seem to matter when it comes to the total allegiance of these three Democrats who would probably turn on their own family members if it meant helping their party.
As a vocal critic of Israel, Graham Platner has strongly condemned Israel, using the genocide accusation against the Jewish state while “labeling the U.S.-Israel relationship as ‘shameful.’”
Even the Jewish Democratic Council has publicly stated that Platner “doesn’t represent the vast majority of American Jews.”
So why would any Jew choose to betray their people, faith, ethnicity and homeland, all for the sake of politics?
It’s not hard to speculate that what we are seeing, in recent days, from many Democratic party members, is their willingness to completely move away from positions traditionally held by the party in the past.
Some of those better-known policies included an open-minded, free-thinking readiness to debate a variety of opinions, in the hope of introducing diversity and other viewpoints, hearing them out to judge their merit.
The Democratic party once stood for the working class, especially farmers and landowners. Civil rights was a hallmark of the party, championing minorities and those who were deemed as the underclass.
But, above all, they were pro-Israel, most notably evidenced by President Harry S. Truman who became the first world leader to officially recognize the State of Israel in 1948.
In fact, Israel was seen as a major ally, supported by the likes of John F. Kennedy and his vice president Lyndon B. Johnson. Through their efforts, U.S. military aid was granted to Israel, strengthening ties between the two nations.
No longer is that true today. Given the very strong animus towards Israel by the Progressive wing of the party, along with many Woke supporters, who tend to almost exclusively vote Democrat, today’s political figures, within the party, realize that they cannot afford to alienate what is clearly a growing constituency, especially after October 7.
So, where does that leave staunch Democrats of the Jewish persuasion, such as Rahm Emanuel, Josh Shapiro, Jared Moskowitz, Dan Goldman, Adam Schiff, Jon Ossoff, Jerry Nadler, Jamie Raskin and so many others, whose voices have been deafeningly silent while their ancestral homeland has been called a perpetrator of genocide?
Do these men even have a prayer when it comes to moving up in the party ranks, given their association to an ethnicity which is reviled by so many of their potential voters?
It’s a valid question, because at least the first two on the above list have designs on running for the presidency. Will their Jewishness put an end to those aspirations or will they have to prove their party loyalty above all else, showing that, as good Democrats, they put political interests ahead of all else?
It seems pretty apparent that the Democratic party has become a sort of religion, whereby one must bow down to the god of politics, ready to embrace whatever is being pushed as the party’s new positions.
That could mean anything from vilification of law and order, advocating for trans boys to play in girls’ sports or arguing for the same rights and privileges, of native-born Americans, to be afforded to illegal immigrants, many of whom are murderers, rapists, pedophiles, wife beaters and even Islamic terrorists, plotting attacks against the U.S.
Today’s Democratic party has gone so Woke, that all of the moderate, traditional members have had to largely stay silent, knowing that if they were to renounce the craziness of supporting avowed Communists, Socialists or anti-Israel positions, which are now part and parcel of their party, they might as well hand in their resignation, because they’d effectively be signing their own political death warrant.
Anyone who is hoping to survive the tremendous shifting which has overtaken the Democratic party, has no choice. It comes down to either being complicit with the new policies, either through their silence or their tacit support. A third option is coming to the conclusion, as so many former Democrats have, that the party left them, causing them to feel they can no longer remain in it.
When politics spills over into coerced religion, by demanding conformity, loyalty, blind support and full-throated endorsements of unprincipled people who have shown their true colors, that’s when some serious questions must be asked.
The first one is how far am I willing to go to compromise my integrity, good name and reputation for the sake of retaining power and influence? Am I okay with turning on my own nation state or risking the security of my people who are being slandered and attacked on a daily basis? Will I watch or even take part in parades where fellow Democrats carry Palestinian flags or wear keffiyehs while calling for the destruction of Israel?
These are the important questions of conscience which anyone supporting Graham Platner should ask, but, first and foremost, – Jewish party members!
