Is Israel dictating US moves? Is Ambassador Huckabee more loyal to Israel than the US?

Part III Tucker Carlson/Huckabee interview

It wasn’t by accident, but rather by design, that during the Tucker Carlson/Ambassador Huckabee interview, that certain subjects came up more than once.

As a fervent believer in the America First agenda, a policy which has often been wrongly interpreted as solely focusing on America’s issues, problems and complexities, Tucker Carlson uses that premise in order to reject the notion that engaging in foreign wars is never in the best interest of his country.

While that may be true, to a large extent, it cannot be an iron clad rule which has no exceptions, because, oftentimes, those battling Israel also happen to be the same enemies who would like to take down the United States.

Consequently, it is not only short-sighted but fatally dangerous to believe that helping to fight a global war, initiated by blood thirsty terrorists who aspire to forcibly coerce all of humanity into subservience to radical Islam, is not to the benefit of all.

Sadly, it is the skewed viewpoint, thinking that this is not America’s war, which has influenced Tucker’s thinking, causing him to look at Israel as a financial burden, draining America’s dollars. Frustrated by that way of thinking, he asked the ambassador, during their exchange, if the anger in his voice could be heard.

Tucker’s enormous blind spot is that he refuses to see Israel as the front-line warrior, doing its utmost to extinguish the spreading flames before they morph into a fire which cannot be contained. With a bit of objectivity, he might actually express gratitude and relief that he nor his children are the ones risking their lives to eliminate this ever-growing threat against mankind.

But when expressing antisemitic rhetoric, despite his vociferous rejections of being against Israel or the Jews, there is a tendency to look upon the defense of the Jewish homeland as a waste of precious resources.

The pity is that Tucker is not alone in this. There are many politicians, along with their constituents, who share these exact sentiments while they ignore the mounting signs of radical Islamic danger.

This is where Ambassador Huckabee’s common sense and foresight serve him well. Having been in the political arena for more than 30 years, he has served as Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas, Governor, ran for the presidency and was finally appointed as U.S. Ambassador to Israel.

His former occupation, as a member of the clergy, only enhances his ability to recognize the times in which we live and the unique threats which signal the perilous roads ahead.

Viewed as weakness rather than strength, Tucker did his level best to take advantage of what he perceived as a chink in Huckabee’s armor, challenging where his true allegiance lied.

It was why, more than once, Tucker openly accused Huckabee of expressing more concern and loyalty towards Israel than for his own country. This was particularly demonstrated when asked about the killing of civilians whom Tucker claims were purposely targeted by the IDF.

Huckabee, having intimate knowledge of how Israeli military operations are carried out, immediately debunked that false allegation, stating that anytime an attack is about to be executed in Gaza, fliers are air-dropped into those areas to warn civilians to leave at once.  Additionally, other methods are employed to make sure that no innocents are put in harm’s way.

Emphasizing his point all the more, Huckabee categorically stated that no other country takes such great pains to make sure that local residents remain unharmed by receiving these warnings.

Rather than admire the lengths to which Israel goes, in order to avoid casualties, those words were interpreted to indicate a superior loyalty for Israel by Huckabee’s insinuation that even America does not employ those kinds of preventative measures while engaging in war.

That was the delectable moment for which Tucker had laid in wait – hoping to catch his prey in the trap of his own words, where he seemingly displayed a greater loyalty for the Jewish homeland as opposed to his own birthplace – the U.S.A.

Sensing Tucker’s untoward motives, at the man with whom he claimed to have had a warm friendship for 30 years, Huckabee immediately pointed to the pin on his lapel, asking him what flag was represented there?

Tucker, forced to acknowledge that it was the American flag which held the place of prominence on the ambassador’s jacket, still remained unconvinced that Huckabee was not guilty of an act of betrayal.

Because, when people are vested in one particular narrative, as Tucker, that is the goal - to entrap pro-Israel voices who, unashamedly, stand with Israel, knowing that to do so has eternal value.

The combative tone, often reflected in Tucker’s carefully curated questions leaned towards an accusatory allegation of coming to the assistance of Israel, despite their being one of America’s closest allies but also ventured into the realm of whether undo pressure is exerted on the Trump administration by Israel’s prime minister.

By frequently attempting to put Huckabee on the defensive, Tucker, undoubtedly, hoped to rattle the ambassador, who managed to stay cool and calm as if taking a leisurely afternoon stroll. Nothing could have defined the stark differences in style more than the polar opposite demeanor displayed by each of the men.

And that was the expressed fear which preceded this interview, as mentioned in the back story portion of Tucker’s clip.  Knowing it would be tough to talk to Huckabee, the affable grandfather, Tucker ended up having to admit a couple of times, during their discussion, that he knew he was coming off as a “jerk,” to which Huckabee did not argue.

But while Tucker’s words often encroached on passing judgment for what he felt was Huckabee’s deliberate attempt to whitewash actions of the Israeli military or its leaders, there was no forthcoming judgment for those who chant the phrase, “From the river to the sea,” because, as Tucker put it, “You can’t know what’s in people’s hearts and minds or how they interpret the meaning of that phrase.” Selective mercy!

And that’s how it went.  A very one-sided spin to achieve maximum effect.  It had to be disappointing for Tucker to see that the real loser was the individual who came to Israel for a quick hit and run, ended up being blindsided by the masterful driving skills of Ambassador Huckabee who walked away without so much as a scratch.
