Delayed action will never bring them back

How many deaths has it taken for authorities to understand that “Globalize the Intifada,” is the demonic call for the death of Jews and infidels (a/k/a anyone who is not a Muslim)?

No one can answer that question, because over the last couple of years, too many have lost their lives over a hateful ideology which should have never been allowed to be uttered.

Only now, in light of the 15 poor souls who were snuffed out by the guns, fueled by the twisted notion that promoting intifada is a righteous cause, will saying such words get you arrested, and, presently, only in the U.K.

It finally dawned on them that these deadly words are not just a banal expression but sentiments which, when carried to their fullest interpretation, will result in mass murder, just as we witnessed nearly a week ago.

Had Australia adopted this policy early on, perhaps those who died wouldn’t have been robbed of the joys of family, friends and completing their life’s work with dignity and honor.

In the case of the three people, all in their 60s, Boris and Sofia Gurman who tried to tackle the shooter, and Reuven Morrison, who threw a brick at the shooter, they will be remembered for the great humanity displayed, as the last act of their lives endeavored to prevent the ensuing tragedy.

The metastasizing climate of hate, which permeated too much of Australia, but was largely concentrated in Sydney, where protesters were previously heard yelling, “Gas the Jews,” should have been a major tipoff that something bad was coming.

Because when such a fiendish fantasy is spoken, it’s time to conclude that a terminal illness has taken hold of that society, where the madness can only morph into its fullest realization. Two years’ worth of hateful placards and angry protesters, raging against Jews and their homeland is bound to do its intended damage. And so it did!

Helped along by the governing forces of nations, who didn’t have the will or the stomach to deport insurgent migrants from amongst their population, for fear of being called racist, their poison was permitted to spread throughout each continent where they resided.

Now, that authorities are late to the party, how will arrests go down after years of people being freely able to excoriate an entire ethnicity? Why wouldn’t there be blowback from individuals who feel entitled and have gotten away with their threats up until now?

Remember, this consequence of getting arrested only came about following a mass shooting at a Jewish event with multiple casualties. Had it not been for this horrific tragedy, does anyone really believe that such a law would have been enacted?

As an X post by Saul Sadka said, “If the police had heeded the pleas of Australian Jews and arrested, investigated and charged or deported the “Gas the Jews” marchers, 15 innocents would still be alive and Bondi would still be famous as an iconic beach – not as a massacre site. But they chose to pander to jihadis.”

A war of words and propaganda has literally been waged against Jewish communities throughout the world, following the massacre of October 7th. Permitted to fester, gain strength and add to its numbers, it has borne the fruit of destruction, and trying to play catch-up now will not bring back the dead.

Real leaders would have refused to tolerate words, slogans, chants and sentiments which constituted a clear threat to a segment of their population. Real leaders would have recognized the toxic atmosphere that was escalating, gathering momentum and power like a volcano about to explode.

If we have learned anything from the lesson of Sydney, it’s that there is a pitiful dearth of leadership with integrity, honesty, courage, bravery, insight, daring and all the other fitting adjectives which mark superior and exemplary character.

When those necessary attributes are missing, leaders often fall prey to the desire of attaining popularity or the temptation to turn a blind eye if doing so is advantageous to them in some way. When political leaders are unwilling to place the safety and well-being of their constituency, in the highest priority, then they have disqualified themselves from retaining the power which they sought.

Sadly, this describes too many of our world leaders whose vision is influenced only by what they can gain from placating the powerful. But that kind of impulse turns them into followers rather than leaders. If they were ever once inspiring, their abandonment of the charge, to which they were elected, has deemed them to be unfit and invalidated.

This is what we are witnessing in real time. Any world leader which has not had the constitution and the moral mettle to vociferously condemn antisemitism and then make sure that denunciation trickles down to the authorities under their command, cannot be called a decent human being.

The weak lip service which we have heard from Western leaders has failed to be put into strong policy which would bring about harsh consequences for anyone who denigrates a segment of their country’s population.

To be incapable of recognizing the difference between protesters, who are voicing their dissent over injustice, the trampling of freedoms or inequities as opposed to outright hate and vilification of certain people, attests to an individual who cannot render good judgment on behalf of others. Such a person is unsuited for office.

Now that things have gotten out of hand, we are watching a repentance phase, where a new law will be the quick-fix to the problem. But just as a badly-reared child, who has gotten away with deplorable behavior, is in terrible need of proper training, so, too, the anti-Israel public will need to be re-conditioned and rewired in order to change their ways or suffer the consequences.

It might be too late for that, because going back to a decent and respectable society may not be something they’re willing to do, especially if they came from another culture where hatred was a familiar way of life to them.

Unfortunately, despising others isn’t necessarily an offshoot of being born in a foreign land. Woke ideology also has bred a generation of youth which holds Jews in contempt, something they may never choose to reject.

Either way, the subsequent arrest of those peddling hate will not bring back the 15 who paid the ultimate price of having weak leaders who failed to do the right thing early on!
