Israel has received a list of candidates to form a temporary Palestinian technocratic body that would govern the Strip during the transition period, under the supervision of the Board of Peace, an Arab diplomat from one of the mediating countries involved in talks to implement the Trump Gaza Plan, told Kan Reshet Bet Radio on Monday.

According to the diplomat, it will be difficult to advance to Phase 2 of the Trump plan without Israeli approval.

He argued that reaching an agreement on a technocratic governing body is critical, because without it, it will be difficult to progress in establishing the international force, which cannot operate as long as Hamas remains the sovereign authority in the Strip and as long as there is no temporary governing body that is not Hamas.

The diplomat added that, in the view of the Arab and Muslim mediators, the continuation of Israeli strikes along the “Yellow Line” also constitutes a challenge that hinders progress in implementing the plan.

Over the past weekend, Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, convened senior representatives from the mediating and guarantor countries to the Gaza agreement—Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey—in an effort to assess how to move forward to Phase 2.

This comes despite the fact that the body of hostage Ran Gvilli is still being held by Hamas.
