Six months after premiering at the Cannes Film Festival, “Yes!”, the new film directed by Nadav Lapid, has been selected as one of the 10 best films of 2025 by the influential French cinema magazine Cahiers du Cinéma.

Yes!” was placed third in the prestigious ranking, following the documentary “Afternoon of Solitude” by Catalan filmmaker Albert Serra – which won the top prize at the San Sebastián Festival and took first place – and Paul Thomas Anderson’s much-discussed film “Battle Chasing Battle,” which ranked second. After “Yes!” is “The Secret Agent” by Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho and "Nouvelle Vague" by Richard Linklater.

The annual film selection by Cahiers du Cinéma is an important point of reference in the film world, frequently cited by newspapers worldwide. This past September, a photo from the film appeared on the magazine’s cover.

Yes!” had its world premiere in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the Cannes Film Festival. The film tells the story of a struggling jazz musician who, after October 7th, is given a mission of utmost importance: to find a melody for the new national anthem. The film stars Ariel Bronz, Efrat Dor, Naama Preis, and Aleksey Serebryakov.

In June, “Yes!” was also included in the decade’s best films ranking by the American magazine IndieWire. The respected magazine’s critics’ poll placed “Yes!” at No. 70 in its prestigious film ranking.
