Hamas signed their death sentence on October 7

Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of the co-founder of Hamas, believes that the terror group signed their death sentence by committing the brutal October 7th massacre.

It wasn’t that he didn’t think they were capable of such heinous acts but, rather, because he understands the incomparable strength of the Israeli military, as well as the fiery response that such a barbaric act would elicit.

In fact, Yousef refers to their reprehensible act as “pulling the trigger.” Others might call it using the nuclear option, but the idea is that they went for broke by doing what they did. It would either result in a successful end of the Jewish state or Hamas’s swift and sure demise. At this point, no one has much doubt that it will be the latter.

But what would cause them to think that they were a match for a country which has spent the last 77 years fortifying its defense, by way of its superior, world-class military capabilities, as well as its unmatched intelligence services?

Over the course of 20 years, as Hamas was building the most sophisticated labyrinth of tunnels and smuggling every weapon imaginable, including ballistic missiles to take out the Israeli population, they waited patiently for the opportune moment.

Regrettably, that came when everything aligned perfectly. The unjustified credibility given to Hamas, along with massive funding over decades, empowered them as they realized that no one was wary enough to suspect that a large-scale surprise attack was in the works.

Greater than anyone could ever imagine, the atrocities which had been planned would shock the conscience of even the hardest of cynics. Because no one had seen that level of depravity carried out against Jews since the dark days of the Holocaust.

Now, after the passage of nearly two years, since that Saturday morning nightmare, Yousef says that “no one knows how this is going to end. The world may want to move on, but Israel cannot.”

But even as prominent public figures, along with leaders of nations insist that it’s time to wrap up the war, how can that be done without finishing off Hamas?  Anything less than their sure end would send the message that there’s always a next time.

Shame on us if we allow them to go another round! In order to assure ourselves that we will “never again” be the recipients of such a bloodbath, we will have to show no mercy in how these butchers are laid to rest. The slaughter that was meant for us will be executed upon them. Anything less would excuse their crimes.

Even after a lengthy, protracted war, we have not forgotten the horrors of what they did. As most of us reflect upon the horrific events that took place, the intensity of our anger only increases, because we know that this should have never happened.

It was the ultimate case of being caught off-guard – a fatal error which we could not afford to make then and surely not in the future. By not heeding the warning signs, we compromised our citizens in a way which is unforgivable. And that is part of the rising anger which most of us feel, even two years later.

We blame ourselves for not being more skeptical and for naively believing that avowed terrorists, whose charter calls for the destruction of our country, could be peace partners under optimal conditions.

Yet, despite the great trust afforded to them, the generous billions they received, and the respect of allowing them to earn a living in our communities, they proved, once and for all, that a leopard cannot change its spots.

That is why it is up to us to put an end to the people who, if granted another chance, would make sure that the job is done next time as they go for the Jewish jugular.

Yousef’s astute perceptions are expressed in how he sizes up Hamas. He says “they never expected Israel to persist in fighting and to resist bowing to its demands in the face of global pressure. It is this emotional response from the world that he believes they are triggering.”

It is because, as he puts it, “A civilized world in the 21st century cannot see children dying like this.” This is an important piece of the puzzle in understanding the motives of Hamas, as well as what keeps them fueled in their relentless fight against Israel.

As barbaric and uncivilized as they are, they are playing the long game of trying to break the hearts of all humanity which doesn’t much care how things got to this point but are, instead, fixated on stopping the carnage that is paraded before their eyes by manipulated accounts and photos.

They’re counting on those images not being ignored. So, the more they are seared into the minds and hearts of the enlightened West, who cannot tolerate seeing the pain and suffering, associated with endless wars that affect children, the more uneasy their consciences will become.

Although Yousef firmly believes that the pressure to end the fighting must be directed at Hamas, he understands that the world will not hold them accountable, by calling for their destruction.

The times in which we live have defined villains and victims differently, and the convenient Woke ideology, which invaded so much of Western culture, has facilitated that reversal of good and evil. Consequently, if people are led to believe that Israel got everything she deserved, for the sin of occupying Palestinian land, then Hamas will never be seen as the evildoers.

But Yousef, knowing the mindset of these creatures, is all too familiar with their need to conquer, only allowing humanity to live, on the condition that they are subservient to Muslims. He understands their capability and the violent means they use in order to reach their goals.

Yousef knows, from personal experience, that these are not people interested in building a worthwhile society. On the contrary, they are willing to be martyred for the prize of global Islamic domination. That is why violence is not unthinkable to them, because if dying for the cause is a righteous outcome, why not employ whatever means it takes to accomplish their objective?

What they failed to consider is that we would never get over what they did, and, in that respect, Yousef is right. Hamas signed their death sentence on October 7th.
