Antoinette Brémond: A life dedicated to prayer and Israel

Antoinette Brémond, a Swiss-born woman whose life was a profound testimony of faith, love, and prayer, recently passed away at the age of 97. A resident of Jerusalem since 1986, Antoinette devoted her life to praying for the peace and blessing of Israel and fostering unity among Christians of all denominations.
Born on January 26, 1927, in Geneva, Antoinette’s early life was marked by tragedy when she lost her twin sister, Marianne, in a childhood accident.
After earning a degree in biology, she first served as a missionary in Togo for 20 years, then in France, and finally in Israel, where her calling to intercession for Israel deepened. It was in Togo that Antoinette met Suzanne, herself a missionary, and the two formed an inseparable partnership, serving the Lord together for decades.
Antoinette and Suzanne embraced their shared vocation: prayer. Their devotion became the cornerstone of their work in Israel, connecting with communities such as the Messianic Assembly in the Old City of Jerusalem and the Hebrew Catholic Assembly.
In 2002, disturbed by how Israel was portrayed in the French media, the two women, with contributions from other local writers, launched "Un Écho d’Israël", a publication aimed at sharing stories of hope and resilience from Israel.
Known for her unwavering compassion, Antoinette became a spiritual mother to many, touching countless lives through her prayers, guidance, and acts of love. Friends recount her tireless intercession during times of personal or national crisis. Even after moving, her home on a quiet street in Jerusalem remained a refuge for those seeking comfort and direction.
After Suzanne’s passing in 2015, Antoinette spent the last ten years of her life at the Ebenezer Messianic Senior Residence in Haifa, continuing to listen to the needs of others and intercede on their behalf with relentless dedication. She expressed the essence of her gratitude toward God, Israel, and all those she encountered with these words:
“I sum up my life in one word: thank you! Toda!”
Until her final day, Antoinette radiated an inner light and joy, nourished by her faith and love for Israel.
She leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love for the people of Israel. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her influence and example will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.
