Human remains transferred to Israel from Gaza are not related to murdered hostages
The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed on Wednesday morning that after examining the remains transferred to Israel yesterday at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, it was determined that they are not connected to either of the two fallen hostages.
Two deceased Israeli hostages remain in Gaza: Staff Sergeant Ran Gvili and Sudthisak Rinthalak.
Their families have been updated. The Prime Minister’s Office stated, “The effort to bring them back will not cease until the mission is completed – to bring them to a proper burial in their homeland.”
Last night, Kan News reported that Israeli officials had initially assessed that the remains might belong to someone who was not a hostage.
Searches in the Gaza Strip are expected to continue in the coming days.
On Monday, Israel prepared for the transfer of the remains of a possible fallen hostage, but it was postponed and eventually took place yesterday.
Hamas conveyed to mediators that it had “mixed up” the timing of the transfer, raising further questions in Israel regarding the organization’s conduct.
