President Trump announces FBI has arrested alleged assassin of Charlie Kirk – wants to see death penalty enacted

WASHINGTON, DC — President Trump dropped an unexpected bombshell Friday morning during an appearance on Fox News.
He announced that federal authorities have arrested a suspect they believe is the man who assassinated Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old conservative Evangelical mega-influencer, on a college campus in Utah on Wednesday.

“I think with a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody,” Trump told stunned Fox News morning anchors.
“I think we’re in great shape,” he said. “He’s in custody.”
“They have somebody they think did it,” Trump said, adding that someone “very close” to the suspect recognized him from the photos and video released to the public by the FBI.
Trump later added that it was the suspect’s father who turned him in to a federal marshal.
Trump noted that he wants to see the death penalty enacted against whoever is found guilty in court of this horrific crime.
“In Utah, they have the death penalty,” he said. “The governor is very intent on the death penalty in this case, and he should be.”
A major press conference is expected in the next few hours to provide more information.
At 9:53 a.m. Eastern, NBC News reported that “the person accused of fatally shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk is 22-year-old Utah resident Tyler Robinson, according to five law enforcement officials briefed on the matter.”
“One of Robinson’s family members turned him in to police after seeing the images, according to two senior law enforcement officials.”
In a video recorded in the Oval Office, Trump blamed Kirk’s death on the “radical Left” and vowed to leave no stone unturned in arresting and prosecuting all those involved.
“My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence, including the organizations that fund it and support it, as well as those who go after our judges, law enforcement officials, and everyone else who brings order to our country,” Trump promised.
It is not yet clear whether the alleged assassin was working alone or with others.
The FBI’s investigation is far from over.
