Israel's basketball star Deni Avdija named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week after dominant performances
Deni Avdija achieved an impressive milestone on Monday by being named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week.
His selection comes after an excellent week for Portland, which recorded three wins in four games, during which the Israeli displayed peak performance, averaging 26.8 points, 9.8 assists, and 8.3 rebounds per game.
The highlight of the week came on the night between Saturday and Sunday, when Avdija recorded a triple-double in Portland’s win over San Antonio.
He finished the game as the team’s top scorer and passer on the floor (29 points and 10 assists) and added 11 rebounds.

His teammate, Donovan Clingan, also stood out with a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds.
In that game, Avdija shot 39.1% from the field (including three three-pointers) and made eight free throws.
This performance earned him a place among an elite group of players, including Nikola Jokić, Luka Dončić, and Russell Westbrook, who are the only ones to record at least three triple-doubles this season.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Conference Player of the Week went to Tyrese Maxey of Philadelphia, who led his team to three wins while averaging an impressive 34.7 points (on 61.2% shooting) and 8.7 assists.
