According to a statement from StandWithUs Canada, an organization combating antisemitism, one guest at the event was injured by shards of glass, and several students were taken to the hospital for treatment following the attack.
The assault occurred after a pro-Palestinian student group gathered nearby, calling the event’s participants “Zionist murderers” and urging others to shut it down, StandWithUs Canada said.

Yonatan Karten, an Israeli soldier who attended the event, protected the pro-Israel students and was injured.
He told the radio program This Morning, “We arrived around 1:00 p.m. at the university in Toronto, and right after I got there, we were attacked by five masked individuals. They tried to break into the inner room of the event, and I blocked them with my body. One of the attackers pushed and shattered the glass door, so I pushed him back, and then the violence started. I began moving furniture to block the other doors so they couldn’t get in.”
He added, “It was really an attempted lynching. The police eventually stopped it, but it took them too long, in my opinion. I was injured and stabbed, but I can still play basketball – I’m okay. I came to share the story of my uncle, who was kidnapped and murdered by Hamas, and to talk about the war. They think we’re war criminals. I didn’t think too much – I saw we were under attack. We pushed them away from the danger zone, blocked the threats, and managed to get out – no one was badly hurt except me.”
Jonah, one of the organizers of the pro-Israel event, told the Toronto Star that dozens of protesters broke into the building while about ten organizers were preparing it for the event.
“It was supposed to be a private event, off campus,” Jonah said.
“We wanted to foster communication and open dialogue about Israel and the Middle East. We were supposed to hear from both sides, to talk about what’s happening.”
