Vance slams Israeli critics of Iran deal, affirms regime’s right to ballistic missile self-defense
In dramatic comments during a White House press conference, US Vice President JD Vance defended the US-Iran deal, warning its Israeli critics not to attack President Trump, the "only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time."
He also stressed that "he happens to be the head of state of the world’s superpower," claiming that two-thirds of the weapons defending Israel during the past months were "built and paid for by American tax dollars. The problem for Israel is not Donald J. Trump," Vance added.
The VP also defended Trump's comments supporting Iran's right to keep its ballistic missile program, whose destruction had been cited as a war goal by both Israel and the U.S. at the start of the war.
“All the president said yesterday is that, of course, regional countries don’t give up the right of self-defense,” he said, “Israel doesn’t give up the right of self-defense if Hezbollah fires rockets or drones at Israel. You can’t tell the country, whether Israel or Iran, they’re not allowed to have any self-defense.”
