US official: Israel cannot be expected to absorb Hezbollah attacks passively
A senior U.S. official told CNN that “Israel should never be expected to passively absorb attacks on its forces and civilians,” amid escalating tensions with Hezbollah.
According to the official, Hezbollah has launched more than 1,000 drones and over 700 rockets since April 17 in an effort to undermine ongoing negotiations between Israel and Lebanon. “The status quo is intolerable,” the official said.
The source added that Hezbollah bears “full responsibility” for the current situation, accusing the group of violating the March 2 ceasefire and attempting to block a path toward peace and reconstruction for the Lebanese people.
