Trump to NBC: Iran ready for ceasefire talks, but terms not good enough
U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran is ready to negotiate a ceasefire, but that he is not prepared to finalize a deal yet, according to remarks reported by NBC’s “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker.
Welker said Trump told her in a phone call that “Iran wants to make a deal, but I don’t want to close it because the terms aren’t good enough yet.”
Trump also said he is uncertain about the status of Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, adding that no one has yet been able to prove to him that Khamenei is alive.
