Somaliland announces plan to open embassy in Jerusalem, eighth overall
The Republic of Somaliland will open an embassy in Jerusalem, its newly-appointed Ambassador Mohamed Hagi wrote on X.
"I am pleased to announce that the Republic of Somaliland’s Embassy will be located in Jerusalem - the Embassy will be opened soon, while Israel will also establish its Embassy in Hargeisa, reflecting growing friendship, mutual respect, and strategic cooperation between our two peoples," Hagi wrote.
Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar welcomed the move. "The opening of the embassy in Jerusalem will be another significant step in strengthening the relations between our countries and peoples. We will work together to implement the decision soon, God willing. With this, Somaliland’s embassy will become the eighth embassy in Jerusalem," Sa'ar stated.
