Netanyahu requests cancellation of testimony due to “urgent security and diplomatic schedule,” but prosecutors object
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday requested to cancel his scheduled testimony in court on Monday, citing an “urgent security and diplomatic timetable,” with details to be provided to the judges in a sealed envelope.
The State Prosecutor’s Office opposed canceling the hearing, arguing that “the matter is not an urgent security issue” and that no explanation was given for why the testimony could not be rescheduled for another day.
Netanyahu’s request comes after Sunday’s hearing was also canceled due to what was described as an “urgent diplomatic meeting,” which was later revealed to be his meeting with U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz.
Since the judges ruled that Netanyahu must testify three days a week, only one week has actually included all three scheduled days — and two of those sessions were shortened.
