Nahariya hospital preparing to move departments underground amid Lebanon escalation

The Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya is preparing to relocate hospital departments to its underground protected facilities following a deterioration in the security situation along the northern border.

Hospital director Prof. Masad Barhoum informed staff that Home Front Command had notified the hospital that Nahariya will be designated an “orange zone” beginning Sunday morning or afternoon, requiring operations to shift to fortified underground areas.

The hospital said it will begin a gradual and controlled reduction in patient numbers, start transferring departments underground on Sunday, suspend the use of women’s operating rooms from Monday onward, and open a childcare facility for staff beginning Sunday morning.
