Man who attacked nun in Jerusalem indicted for 'assault motivated by religious hatred'
Yona Schreiber, the man accused of violently shoving and kicking a nun in Jerusalem last month, was indicted on for assault causing bodily harm motivated by hatred toward a religious group.
Schreiber was indicted for assaulting the nun, as well as a passerby who tried to help the nun after she was attacked in front of the Cenacle holy site on Mount Zion.
The court requested that the 36-year-old resident of the Samaria settlement of Peduel be kept in custody until the end of the legal proceedings.
Assault causing actual bodily harm can carry a prison sentence of up to three years, which can be doubled if a motivation by hatred toward a religious group can be proven in court.
