Lebanon to decide on direct talks with Israel after Washington round
Lebanon will determine its position on continuing direct negotiations with Israel after the next round of talks in Washington, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Lebanese officials cited by Al-Araby TV.
The officials said the United States has not yet reached a final position on ending the fighting in Lebanon and argued that American pressure on Israel to halt its military operations is essential to the success of the negotiations.
They added that Lebanon has not decided whether it would withdraw from the talks if Israeli strikes continue, but stressed that boycotting the negotiations could serve Israel’s interests and potentially lead to further Israeli advances in southern Lebanon.
