Knesset advances bill for political October 7 inquiry as opposition boycotts vote
The Knesset approved in its first reading a bill to establish a commission of inquiry into the October 7 attack that would serve as an alternative to a state commission of inquiry and be appointed by politicians.
The bill passed with 59 votes in favor and none against, after opposition parties boycotted the vote.
Supporters say the proposal would create a new mechanism to investigate the events of October 7, while critics argue it would replace an independent state commission with a politically appointed body.
