Israeli official urges UN to halt aid transfers to Turkish group IHH
Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), Maj. Gen. Yoram Halevi, sent an official letter to the UN World Food Programme demanding an immediate halt to any fuel, aid, or other support transfers to the Turkish organization IHH, which Israel designates as a terrorist organization.
The request followed intelligence indicating that UN-linked fuel deliveries inside Gaza had reached IHH, an organization Israel says helped organize recent flotillas to the Strip. Halevi stressed that IHH has been outlawed in Israel since 2008 and warned that assisting terror-linked entities could carry serious consequences.
The letter also emphasized that humanitarian aid mechanisms for Gaza are intended solely for civilians and that Israel will not allow resources to reach groups connected to Hamas under humanitarian cover.
