Israeli household costs set to rise by up to NIS 1,000 a year

A wave of new price hikes is expected to cost an average Israeli household an additional NIS 800–1,000 a year (about $215–$270).

Water, electricity and cooking gas tariffs have risen, adding tens of shekels annually to household bills, while electricity alone is expected to increase costs by up to NIS 120 a year (about $32). Municipal property taxes (arnona) are also rising, with some cities approving exceptional hikes that could add hundreds of shekels per household.

Electric vehicles are set to become more expensive after the purchase tax rose to 48%, pushing prices up by NIS 3,000–7,000 ($800–$1,900) for common models. At the same time, income tax brackets and credits remain frozen, effectively reducing net salaries for many workers by several hundred shekels a year. Child allowance increases are minimal and do little to offset the broader cost-of-living surge.

The one notable relief: fuel prices dropped by NIS 0.26 per liter (about $0.07), offering frequent drivers savings that could reach hundreds of shekels annually, depending on usage.
