Israel slams UN report as distorted and baseless
The UN on Friday released its latest IPC food security assessment, saying the famine designation for Gaza City declared in July has been lifted, though most of the Strip remains in an “emergency” food security situation.
Israel’s political and military leadership sharply rejected the findings, calling the report misleading and disconnected from realities on the ground. The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories said the report ignores the scale of aid entering Gaza, relying mainly on UN truck data that accounts for only about 20% of total assistance.
COGAT said an average of 600–800 aid trucks enter Gaza daily, about 70% carrying food — nearly five times the amount the IPC itself previously said was required — adding that more than 30,000 aid trucks have entered Gaza since U.S.-led coordination began, figures it said were omitted from the report.
