Israel preparing for prolonged war with Hezbollah, possibly longer than Iran conflict - report

Israel is preparing for a prolonged war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, potentially lasting longer than the current campaign against Iran, even if a ceasefire is reached on the Iranian front, according to a report by the Financial Times.

A source familiar with Israeli discussions on the northern front said the goal is to inflict major damage on Hezbollah to remove the constant threat that has forced the evacuation of northern communities.

The report added that Israel has conveyed to regional countries that the conflict in Lebanon could continue for an extended period, and that the option of a large-scale campaign in Lebanon was considered even before the operation against Iran began. Diplomatic efforts are ongoing to prevent a broader war, with France reportedly proposing a plan to disarm Hezbollah.
