Israel does not rule out technocratic government in Gaza without Palestinian Authority

Israel is not ruling out the establishment of a technocratic government to administer the Gaza Strip after the war.

U.S. and Israeli officials are currently discussing the potential makeup of such a technocratic body, with Jerusalem ruling out the inclusion of figures identified with the Palestinian Authority.

Kan News reported earlier that an Arab diplomat from one of the mediating countries involved in implementing the Trump plan for Gaza said Israel has received a list of candidates for a temporary Palestinian technocratic administration to oversee the Strip during a transitional period, under the supervision of a “Peace Council.”

The diplomat said progress to Phase B of the Trump plan would be difficult without Israeli approval, adding that agreement on a technocratic governing body is critical. Without it, he said, advancing the establishment of an international force would be nearly impossible, as such a force cannot operate while Hamas remains Gaza’s ruling authority and no alternative interim government is in place.
