Israel confirms it asked Trump to delay Iran strike
Israeli officials confirmed Thursday that Israel has asked the U.S. administration to delay a possible strike on Iran, citing concerns that Israel is not yet fully prepared for a broad Iranian retaliation.
According to the officials, talks held over the past 24 hours between senior Israeli and U.S. figures included a request to avoid immediate military escalation with Iran, or at least to postpone a major offensive, amid Israeli security assessments that the home front and air-defense systems are not fully ready for a direct or multi-front Iranian response.
The officials stressed that Israel does not oppose action against Iran in principle, but views the issue as one of timing, warning that a strike could trigger large-scale retaliation, including missile and drone attacks from Iran and the activation of Iranian proxies, led by Hezbollah in Lebanon and allied militias elsewhere.
