Israel bars Spain from participating in int'l military HQ in Gaza over gov't's 'anti-Israel obsession'
Spain will not be allowed to participate in the Civil-Military Coordination Center for the Gaza Strip, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced, according to the Times of Israel.
The CMCC is a multi-national military center overseeing the Gaza ceasefire, based in Kiryat Gat, near the Gaza border.
Sa'ar explained the decision by saying, “The Sánchez government has such a blatant anti-Israeli bias that it has lost any ability to serve as a useful actor in implementing President Trump’s peace plan and in the CMCC center operating within the framework of the plan,” adding that Spain has formally been notified.
Several European nations, including Spain, maintain an observing military presence at the headquarters. Israel's move followed several hostile diplomatic actions and numerous strong criticisms by the Spanish government against Israel in recent years.
