Israel assesses Trump is still weighing possible strike on Iran
Israel believes U.S. President Donald Trump may still order a military strike on Iran, with the decision dependent on talks with Tehran and the operational goal of any action, Kan News reported Friday.
Israeli defense officials say that if the aim were to topple the Iranian regime, the current U.S. military deployment in the region would be insufficient.
Tensions peaked Wednesday during a call between Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, when Iran reportedly believed a strike was imminent. Senior IDF officers have since consulted U.S. counterparts, and U.S. officials say the military option remains on the table.
Israeli intelligence estimates that Iran’s crackdown has killed about 3,000 people, including hundreds of regime personnel, with roughly 1,000 deaths in Tehran. Some 30,000 wounded are hospitalized, while protests that peaked at over one million demonstrators last week have since declined.
