Israel allows UNRWA trucks to refuel and re-enter Gaza Strip for the first time
Israel permitted UNRWA trucks to refuel at the Rafah Border crossing near Egypt and return to the Gaza Strip, marking the first time that fuel has entered the Strip since the start of the war on Oct 7, Israeli media reported.
The amount of fuel that entered the Gaza Strip in this way amounted to 24,000 liters, according to Reuters.
The Israeli decision was taken after the UNRWA announced it would need to stop all humanitarian activities because its fuel stocks had run out, preventing it from distributing aid throughout Gaza.
The Knesset Member Simcha Rothman of the Religious Zionism party and the head of Israel's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, questioned the government's decision.
“I don’t see how introducing fuel and humanitarian aid to Hamas, which these days actually continues psychological warfare and abuse of the families of the abductees, and through them, the entire Israeli society, brings us closer to the day when all the abductees will be released, and I will demand explanations in this regard,” he stated on Wednesday.
