IRGC media releases missile footage as Trump says US destroyers transited Hormuz 'successfully'
Footage reportedly showing Iranian forces preparing missile launchers and targeting U.S. vessels was released on Friday by the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency.
The footage came after U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that American destroyers had transited the Strait of Hormuz “very successfully” despite coming under Iranian fire. “Missiles were shot at our Destroyers, and were easily knocked down. Likewise, drones came, and were incinerated while in the air,” Trump wrote.
Calling Iran’s leadership “lunatics” who would use a nuclear weapon “if they had the chance,” Trump also issued a warning over ongoing negotiations with Tehran: “We’ll knock them out a lot harder, and a lot more violently, in the future, if they don’t get their Deal signed, FAST!”
Earlier this week, the U.S. president said “great progress” had been made in talks with Iran and suspended Project Freedom, the operation aimed at securing shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. It remains unclear whether the negotiations will ease tensions in the region.
