Iran threatens death sentences for protesters as anti-regime demonstrations continue
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called for national unity on Sunday, accusing protesters of serving U.S. President Donald Trump by vandalizing public property.
Iranian media reported a nationwide internet shutdown following the killing of two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps members in clashes with separatist forces in the western city of Kermanshah. Data from global internet monitors indicated a countrywide blackout, accompanied by the cutting of phone lines, after a wave of harsh digital censorship by the regime.
Tehran’s chief prosecutor said authorities would respond “with an iron fist” to arson and vandalism, warning that those involved would be charged with “waging war against God” — a capital offense under Iran’s Islamic law — and face the death penalty.
