Iran allowed safe Hormuz Strait passage for tankers as goodwill gesture to Trump - report

The “present” that U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Iran gave Washington was the safe passage of a few fuel tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, a senior Arab diplomat and a US official told The Times of Israel.

Trump told reporters that Tehran “did something yesterday that was amazing — they gave us a present…worth a tremendous amount of money… [it] arrived today.”

The U.S. official said that Washington had asked for a gesture of goodwill in the budding talks with the regime, and in response, Iran allowed several tanks that weren’t tied to the U.S. or Israel, to pass through.
