IDF soldier killed in southern Lebanon
An IDF soldier was killed and seven others wounded in southern Lebanon, the military announced on Wednesday, marking the first Israeli fatality since the U.S.-brokered ceasefire with Iran, which reportedly includes Lebanon.
The soldier killed was identified as Master Sgt. Alexander Filin, a reserve combat soldier from Haifa. Seven others were wounded in the incident, including two officers and a reserve soldier who were moderately wounded. Two other reserve soldiers, a combat NCO and a reservist servicewoman, sustained light injuries.
One of the injured is a colonel who is the deputy commander of the 36th Division, according to Army Radio. The station also reported that the incident was caused by an explosive device, and that the IDF responded by carrying out artillery strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure in the area.
