IDF force opened fire on civilian aircraft after mistaking it for drone
An IDF force opened fire on a civilian aircraft near Beit El after mistakenly believing it was a drone amid heightened concerns over aerial threats.
The incident occurred after residents reported spotting four suspected drones. Soldiers launched searches and, after identifying what they believed was one of the aircraft, fired at a light visible in the sky. It was later determined that the target was a civilian plane on approach to Ben Gurion Airport.
The episode comes against the backdrop of repeated Hezbollah explosive drone attacks in southern Lebanon and along Israel's northern border.
