IAF attacks targets in Lebanon after Hezbollah shot anti-tank missile at IDF position
The Israeli Air Force is striking targets in Lebanese territory in response to an attack by the Hezbollah terror group against an IDF position near the village of Arab al-Aramshe on the border of Lebanon.
An anti-tank missile was shot from Lebanese territory toward an IDF position. No information about possible damage or injuries among IDF soldiers is known at the moment.
Hezbollah took responsibility for the attack, which it described as revenge for the death of three of its members in the clash with IDF forces on Monday.
The IDF stated that it attacked sites belonging to Hezbollah inside Lebanon with air strikes, and directed artillery fire at the area from where the anti-tank missile was fired earlier.
About an hour later, sirens sounded in the village of Arab al-Aramsha, the site of an infiltration attempt that was thwarted by the IDF on Monday.
According to the Lebanese news channel al-Mayadeen, Hezbollah shot three rockets at Israeli territory. The IDF denied this, saying that the siren was falsely activated and no rocket launches were detected.
Al-Mayadeen also reported that Hezbollah ordered UNIFIL forces and the Lebanese Army to leave their positions close to the Israeli border, which was denied by UNIFIL shortly after.
Al-Mayadeen itself later denied having published the initial report.
