Gaza flotilla: IDF begins boarding around 58 vessels off Cyprus coast

IDF commandos have begun boarding and taking control of the latest "Global Sumud" flotilla off the coast of Cyprus, which is sailing to the Gaza Strip to challenge Israel’s naval blockade, Israeli media reported.

The activists live-streamed the start of the IDF operation, which is led by the Navy's elite Shayetet 13 commando unit, according to Army Radio.

The outlet added that the flotilla includes 58 vessels, 15 of them belonging to the Turkish IHH (Humanitarian Relief Foundation), which led the first major "Mavi Marmara" flotilla in 2010. Several hundred activists are on the vessels, including around 100 Turkish citizens.
