First fuel and gas tankers enter the Gaza Strip through Egypt as pause in fighting begins

With the start of the pause in the fighting between Israel and Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip, the first fuel and gas trucks entered the strip on Friday morning.

Trucks carrying four diesel fuel tanks and four tanks of cooking gas entered Gaza from Egypt and were transferred to United Nations humanitarian aid organizations.

Israel approved the move as part of the deal to free Israeli hostages in exchange for a 4-day pause in fighting.

“The fuel and cooking gas are intended for operating essential humanitarian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip,” said the IDF Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), Maj.-Gen. Ghasan Alyan.

During the four-day truce, 130,000 liters (about 34.3 gallons) of fuel are set to enter the Gaza Strip, according to Reuters.
