Fifth IDF division joins fighting against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon

The Israeli military announced that a fifth division, the elite 98th Division, has joined the fighting against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

"Over the past week, IDF soldiers of the 98th Division have expanded their targeted ground operations to additional targets in southern Lebanon, alongside the ongoing activities of the 91st, 36th, and 146th Divisions," the military said.

The troops are now deployed "along the anti-tank missile defense line" and are "clearing the area of Hezbollah terrorists and terrorist infrastructure, in parallel to the broader firepower campaign targeting the Hezbollah terrorist organization’s main centers of gravity."

According to the IDF, the 98th Division joined four others currently in Lebanon: The 146th and 162nd in the western sector, and the 91st and 36th in the eastern sector. In addition, the 210th “Bashan” Regional Division is stationed in the Mount Dov area on the eastern end of the Lebanese border.
