Democrats leader Golan urges alliance with Arab Ra'am party to topple Netanyahu gov't
The leader of the far-left Democrats Party, Yair Golan, on Tuesday urged the other party leaders in the opposition to partner with the Arab Ra’am party "to topple this failed, corrupt, and most dangerous government to Israel’s security."
Golan issued his call in response to Religious Zionism chairman Bezalel Smotrich, who asserted that morning that former prime minister Naftali Bennett’s decision to include Ra’am in the 2021-2022 government was a worse governmental failure than the current government's mistakes tied to Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack.
Golan said cooperating with Mansour Abbas' Ra'am party, which has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, would be “the appropriate Zionist response.”
Bennett has stated he would only rely on Zionist parties while creating a coalition, ostensibly excluding Ra'am.
